The Peel brand

remittanceman [Edit] [Delete] 20:36, 30 June '07

Anyone noticed how the BBC and Glastonbury have turned the late and (mostly) great John Peel into a meaningless brand to represent any new music regardless of its merit?

First I see all these T-Shirts at Glastonbury with Peel and the Teenage Kicks lyric which got me thinking that most of the stuff on the Peel stage would have been competely irrelevant to him. The final straw was belatedly reading the Glasto programme just now which states that Peel 'would have loved' the Twang. Would he bollocks. Meanwhile the BBC constantly use the great man's name in vain while axing the only show in the Peel spirit (Mixing It on Radio 3). End of rant. Cheers.
