on friday night my (now ex-) housemates and i had a discussion on music.

two of the things we thought were that lyrics seem to be poorer and poorer and that bands seem to have shorter and shorter careers.

whilst arctic monkeys mean a huge amount to alot of people, surely alex turner can't be writing the greatest songs ever when they all just seem to be "peter kay set to music".

so, if i want important/clever/beautiful lyrics, where do i go?
