I'm about to embark on a strict essay deadline(i have until monday) to write 1500 words on a particular theme. I need to discusss the interaction between 'art' music and the more popular forms of music, such as rock, jazz etc. I was just wondering if you good people had any thoughts about the links/differences between the two forms.
I'm thinking along the lines of how rock etc are deemed common place and more appealing, possibly due to melody etc, yet art music is not widely accepted - in a commercial sense at least...
Any help would be much appreciated!
