Live Post Rock

lemonbrickcombo [Edit] [Delete] 17:17, 13 July '07

Inspired by Mogwai last night. I think this can be very hit and miss as a live genre. For example: when I saw Isis, I felt completely underwhelmed and bored by the performance. The sound wasn't right, and the band seemed very static and uninvolved. Yet last night Mogwai were better than most of the more energetic and jittery acts I've seen this year, by virtue of utter crushing sound and fantastic setup and lighting.

So, with post rock and instrumental rock, is the stage and the venue which make it a good gig more than anything? Or can a post rock band sound good anywhere, if they're talented enough?
