"Niche" - anyone heard of this genre?

Ch-Ch-Changes [Edit] [Delete] 16:13, 18 July '07

This might sound a bit Conor McNicholas, but I'm pretty certain that I've discovered a new musical genre. It's called Niche.

Basically, Niche is a combination of UK Garage, Grime, R&B and Hardcore (the Scott Brown stuff, not the Minor Threat variety). It takes its name from a nightclub in Sheffield where the first Niche tracks were played.

For some reason, Niche is being ignored by music journalists and record labels despite its growing popularity - almost 4000 people have registered on www.nicheallniter.co.uk in the past 9 months alone. I'm guessing though that this under-exposure will change once Niche finds its crossover hit (similar to what 'Pow!' did for Grime). At the moment, this track is the front-runner to break Niche into the mainstream...
