Music Social More…

The use of 'Mod' in current music.

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 11:20, 20 July '07

I think its pretty terrible, how bands like The Enemy, and even Oasis are given 'mod' titles and even influences, in magazines.

The media just seems to use the roundal and mod culture to market pretty much all English garage rock, regardless of whether or not the band could be classed as mods. Its like with The Libertines and stuff.

Liking The Jam doesn't make you a mod. The Jam were copying a movement long gone, and their music sounds nothing like what mods were into in the 60's. Its more like punk.

So please, magazines, stop referring to The Pigeon Detectives as mods. Its surprisingly irritating.
