Kasabian & The Dead 60s
You can say what you like about them, but they're a great live band, swiftly becoming legendary for the effort and thought they seem to put into every single show.
I was lucky enough to get a freebie to see them at the last night of the iTunes festival at the ICA. Just 350 people in there, a heaving mass of 350 sweaty people by the end of the night. Dead 60s were alright, I loved the first album but the new stuff sounds much more like American pop-punk bands, a bit cheesier and less ska-influenced.
And Kasabian basically took the roof off. I've seen them live 5 times now and still never paid to see them (in the sense that all the others have been festival appearances). And they've put on 5 great shows, in front of 70,000 odd in the mud at Glastonbury, in front of 30,000 Spaniards at 3am in Benicassim, and now in front of 350 on a week night in a Central London theatre. They can make any of them work. A bit dodgy on record perhaps, but Kasabian are one of the best British live acts around.
