Rock 'n Roll Censorship

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 21:00, 13 August '07

Stereogum has a pretty interesting Censorship thread here:
http://www.stereogum.com/archives/classic-moments-in-rock-censorship.html#more

and I think they've missed a couple good ones.

Also on the Ed Sullivan Show was when the asked the Doors to delete "higher" from Light My Fire. So maybe that one doesn't count because Jim sang the song as originally penned. Even exaggerated the offensive lyrics. Best part? Supposedly afterwards Ed's cronies said, "You'll never do the ES Show again!" To wit, Jim responded, "Fuck you, we already did."

Of course, on your side of the pond was that little Sex Pistols fiasco regarding the album title.

Feel free to contribute. But don't use the eff word or I'll have fishplums delete your post.
