Inspired from the Maccabees news bit, but by no mean limited to this overrated little band...

To the best of my knowlege, these so-called "secret shows" seem to only happen in LA, NY, and London. And so my guess is that this is some sort of band ploy to get Paris Hilton types to show up (as friend of a friend of a friend of the agent/promoter/club owner.. whatever).

And then when it's determined Lindsay Lohan can't make because she's in rehab the show's secret is spilt by an "in-the-know" radio dj... and basically I think it's all a bunch of bullshit.

If a band wants to play a friend's backyard party then great, very cool. But this whole notion seems hell bent on getting celebrity hipsters to support the band by gracing them with their presence and I dun know about you, but once I find out Kelly Osbourne is a big fan... my love for that band dies a little bit.
