EPs - how long is too long?

restlessboy [Edit] [Delete] 13:14, 20 August '07

At what point does something go from being a Single > EP > Album?

(discounting bands who do particularly long instrumental stylee tracks where 3 tracks could feasibly be an album. talking in 'pop song' terms)

I reckon:

1-3 songs = a single

4-7 songs = an EP

6-8 songs could be called a 'mini album'

10 songs strikes me as the minimum reasonable length to call something an album

this leaves a psychological 'no man's land' of 9-song-long releases. guess how long my new record is?

Even '9 Red Songs' by Chris T-T actually had 10 tracks on it, and that was called a 'mini album'.

DiScuss with references to specific records.
