I went to the Penthouse, the bar above the Freebutt last night and was surprised to see the whole outside of the place had been painted white - so I asked the bar manager what was going on and she said that it is re-opening on September 15th! Kept that quiet! It will certainly be good to have it back. She showed me downstairs and they have a hell of a lot of work to do if they are gonna open by the 15th - the whole place is like a building site, but they have taken bookings so I guess they must be sure about opening on time.

It is being run by the same people that run Southampton Joiners apparently. Is that a decent place? Some of the gigs booked are pretty inconsequential but then The Freebutt always had its fair share of crap gigs. I guess this is a "wait and see".
