Deerhunter: loved and meh'd

jonny_rat [Edit] [Delete] 13:05, 20 November '07

Stupid question I know. Of course some people on here will.

But I gets to thinking; are they significantly more belove-ed by the critics (significantly the websites) than they are by't fans? Pitchfork and DiS seem to love them HARD; however, one main article on the front page of this site right now has only 2 comments, despite being there for the last six years. Another headline, about their hiatus, has just one; and that's just a "yay."

I don't think I know anyone else in THE REAL ACTUAL WORLD who's a fan either. Although everyone goes "er, maybe." Is it the Deer-Related-Band-Name Conundrum? (A close relative to the Wolf-Title-Musical-Production Dilemma.) Critics getting it wrong? Critics knowing better than the fans? What are their sales like?
