i totally wrote this off when i first got it, i think mostly because of the lack of throat-slitting cello, but i went back to it a few months ago and it's been played a lot since then. i really like tim kasher's delivery; while his lyrics may not always be incredible, his delivery of them usually is. and the horn arrangements are GRATE.

i saw them at ATP last year and really enjoyed them, but i got 'twin cinema' afterwards and it didn't do much for me. then i saw them again at the bar academy in islington and they were great so i went back to the album and so is that. also, i got "mass romantic" last night in an oxfam shop for £2.49, which was nice. what was not nice was that the guy working there didn't know what it was and thus where the CD would be, and had to call somebody else out to look at it. they kept saying "where would the new pornographers be?" loudly in a fairly busy shop.
