one of my absolute favourite things about this album is that it's a perfect example of how good music actually can break through without anything like massive hype or a huge marketing onslaught. it came out five years ago when Death Cab were pretty much the textbook defintion of "indie underachievers" and jimmy tamborello was just some anonymous glitch kid, yet who would have thought it would end up being the second biggest selling release on Sub Pop? it makes me genuinely happy that, sometimes, good music will out.

if they ever get around to releasing a second album, it's going to be huge.
