Should I be listening to... Xiu Xiu?

I've just found what I can only assume is their new album online (Women As Lovers)

Are Xiu Xiu a band worth exploring? There one of those bands who I always see mentioned, and yet have never (knowingly) come across them. What do they sound like? WHO do they sound like? When, where and WHY do they sound like that?
