Music software/hardware what you does like

jonny_rat [Edit] [Delete] 13:51, 17 January '08

I'm sure lots of you chaps and chapettes ENJOY MAKING SWEET COMPUTER MUSIC.
I'm interested to know what software/hardware do you generally use? Which packages do you love/hate/tolerate? Post some links to examples things you've created too, if you like, and maybe tell us a bit about what you used to make them.

I use an Axiom midi controller which I mainly bought for the trigger-finger style pads (fun for doing drum stuff, but unfortunately a bit unresponsive for precise work); not sure I'd totally recommend them because 4 of the knobs just stopped working after the warranty period.

I like Logic for working with live audio and sequencing plug-ins, although it's not the most streamlined bit of kit in the world.

Lots of people see Reason as little more than a toy; I love it however. The 4th version is great; playing around with using oscillators to trigger samplers, running arpeggiators through drum machines to make cut-up-sounding beats, creating new instruments in the combinator. I'm sure it's all stuff that you could do (and perhaps better) in Reaktor, but that particular bit of kit gives me a headache just looking at it.
