Good Bands with 5-String Basses

TheoGB [Edit] [Delete] 15:33, 5 February '08

This sounds utterly fascist but I'm pretty sure in all my days of seeing bands I've only seen one band with a five-string bass that I thought was any good.

The bassists themselves tend to be technically great but there seems to be something about the sort of band that gets a five-string bassist in that means they're rubbish...based entirely on my gigging experience.

I'll probably find out I've probably got tonnes of bands in my collection who are great and have five or more strings on their bass and I've never noticed, now.

Am I alone in feeling this way? I think it's sort of like when you see a band take to the stage and they all have glistening Gibson Les Pauls and Marshall 4x10s with nice heads on. I immediately worry that I'm about to see something truly bad get going.

So, music fascism...
