Got an early copy of the new Long Blondes disc yesterday - listened to it on the way into work this morning and. . . early indications are that it's really rather fabulous!

There will be Blondie (The Long Blondies?) comparisons aplenty as this is an album with plenty of bubblegummy pop tunes, knowingly eighties'ish synth sounds and a slightly world-weary female voice.

But what really sells it though, for me, is Kate Jackson's emotional honesty, the refreshing lack of wanna-be provocative sex-kitten'esque posturing and her winning way with a neat, incisive lyric.

May be a bit too pop, a bit too easy on the ear, a bit too immediately likeable for some but, for me, this is chuffing marvellous!
