For example the 80s hardcore scene and earlyish hip hop (nwa, public enemy etc.)

both were youth movements rebelling against the status quo, and also seemingly making music that was noticably different from what came before it, the media tried to censor both movements and you can draw a lot of parallels between the two..
would you say this is so for a lot of periods in music, or does it depend?
