Sonic Youth - SYR7 J'accuse Ted Hughes

remittanceman [Edit] [Delete] 13:28, 29 May '08

Anyone heard this? Vinyl-only according to their website although I found it on eMusic. I'm so glad they have revived SYR to release some of these shows, SYR 6 was probably my favourite so far. It reminded me of the wide open space at the end of Expressway... this one is in a similar vein, Agnes B Musique is gorgeous (unreleased studio recording originally intended for a fashion show or something).

I would be interested to know if anyone was at that ATP in 2000, from the limited audience noise on here it sounds like somebody liked it. J'accuse Ted Hughes sounds great to me, really hypnotic and Kim's vocals are bearable. I wonder if the reaction to this stuff and the morons heckling them at the Goodbye Twentieth Century show soon after had an impact on their last 3 albums which I find slightly boring.

SYR 8 due soon, can't wait. Hope the first post-Geffen studio album is a bit more adventurous too.
