For me it was Garbage supported by Bis (an unpromising combination of band names) at Manchester Apollo. Garbage had just released Stupid Girl and Bis had just been on TOTP doing 'Kandy Pop'. Bis went past in a forgettable blur of songs that all sounded the same.
Garbage were great, I was right at the front, about 13 years old and got crushed and bruised by the barrier. My mate needed to be lifted out cos he started feeling faint and suffered the embarrasment of the bouncer shouting 'quick it's a little kid!'. He was quite small...
