This is probably gonna go down faster than Derby did last season (zing), a long time back but a pal of mine recommended me a series of 3 compilations that came out around 10 years ago now. Warning to the cool set, these are Ministry of Sound affiliated (although they actually came out on the respectable and now defunct Open imprint) and are as follows:

'Late Night Sessions' selected and mixed by DJ Harvey
'Late Night Sessions II' selected and mixed by X-Press 2
'Late Night Sessions III' selected and mixed by Terry Farley and Pete Heller

Due to the label collapsing quickly with limited numbers of copies being pressed, these are now pretty hard to come by for less than 30 quid a time. I remember buying the 3rd in the series and thinking it was terrific so payed a fair bit even back then to get hold of the previous 2.

Anyway, i digress. I hadn't listened to these for about 6 or 7 years anyway and last night dug them out, only to be really pleasantly surprised at how good they still are. I'm a sucker for deeper house that has a slightly Chicago feel and there's plenty of this on show with these. Maybe it's because i've been listening to old Trax records that these sound as good as they do...i dunno.
Anyway, perhaps the tunes have dated a bit, but for anyone with a passing interest in earlier house music, you could do a lot worse than try and pick all three of these up.

I think Ministry Of Sound later tried to cash-in on the kudos that these received by releasing a couple of downtempo compilation bearing the same name, but these are generic and to be avoided.

Anyone else heard these at all....?
