Gang Gang Dance - Saint Dymphna

millionaire [Edit] [Delete] 00:50, 14 September '08

Second time i've made this thread and the first time since i've heard it.

I was initially disappointed - it wasn't what I expected, I expected like an uber-dance extra-energetic album filtered through gang gang dance's sensibilities with beautiful synth sounds and stuff like that. It wasn't like that and most of the synth based tracks were kind of wishy-washy.

It turns out that it's one of the best rock album's i've heard - about half rock type stuff and half ambient/dance tracks and crossing over in all different places.

All the tracks are great, no doubt and it's really consistent. I think my initial upset was caused by expectations and the fact judging an album on straight through when you know some tracks really well already will skew the experience a fair amount but i'm still not sure it's that great as an album - but it certainly seems that way at the moment.

My favourites at the moment are the rockiest ones: desert storm and first communion.

It's exceptional.

Play it loud...
