Bands who name themselves after a relatively well-known bands track

usa_nails [Edit] [Delete] 11:38, 17 September '08

or album title. For example:

- Erics Trip
- Boris
- Whirlwind Heat
- Serpentine Pad

Can they ever really escape from being compared to the group they've chosen to associate themselves with? Why would they want to do this? I've never understood it. Surely listeners are just going to think you're trying to sound like them, which is a bit pointless. Theres lots of other examples too.

Doesn't it just prevent them from ever really forging their own identity? Handicapping yourself from the get go in this way seems a bit daft.
