I hate it when people say this to other people. I may very well be one, but if I say I think a band is shit, it's because I think that band is SHIT. Kings of Leon? Shit. Oasis? Shit. The new Killers single? Absolutely fucking dogshit. It has fuck all to do with my irrational elitism with regard to music in general, and I'm sure the same goes for most people when they voice their opinion in the negative. In fact surely accusing someone of being a snob because you KNOW that they do really like a band, and you KNOW that they're just trying to maintain their cool, is far more arrogant than saying "I don't like a band" could ever be.
