I've just realised what it is that doesn't quite click about Rolo Tomassi for me - I really like all the prog-punk-jazz-electro-math-whatever stuff, but when they go into screamy mode [with a couple of exceptions], it all gets quite boring.

There's the same wanky noodling each time, which is all well and good once, but the second and third times it gets a bit stale and the screaming seems to have the same rhythm all the time.

That said, they played a couple of more recent songs tonight that didn't fit that formula at all, which I thought were damned good, which suggests they're diversifying as they go on, which is grand.

So, does anyone get where I'm coming from, or am I going to be complaining that you can't make out the lyrics next?
