Bad lyrics that ruin otherwise perfectly good songs

in_limbo [Edit] [Delete] 14:10, 17 October '08

I'm not talking about songs that are musically good and lyrically bad, I mean one or two lines in a song that's otherwise lyrically fine, where you can't help thinking "surely they could have thought of something better than that".

I find Morrissey (particularly on his last album) and Matt Bellamy to be prime culprits of this. One example I've heard recently is the line in Late Of The Pier's 'Space In The Woods' that goes "And chopping and chopping me down / So that I fit in your laptop". Not that LOTP are the most gifted lyricists in the world, but I just find it unbearably naff.
