Compilation CDs - DiScuss

bsmrocks [Edit] [Delete] 11:32, 21 October '08

I just posted on www.bsmrocks.com/blog about this and am interested to know peoples views.

As a label I really enjoy releasing compilations but as time goes by they seem to get harder and harder to sell. I guess with the content (in the most part) already being widely available there's not so much in it for people to want to part with their cash anymore. We release a bunch of free digital samplers every year but I want a physical product too, at least once a year ideally.

How can compilations be made exciting again? As a consumer, what makes the difference for you? All new tracks? Enhanced content? Nice packaging? Low price? I want to know what we can do to make these things as exciting as possible. (FYI: any answers of "stop putting crap music on them" are not useful!)

If anyone has a couple of minutes to share their thoughts, here, on the blog or by email to bsmrocks@googlemail.com I'd be really interested to hear them.

Thanks
