S.C.U.M + Lord Auch play Be @ Proud Galleries Sat 25th OCT

Geeg [Edit] [Delete] 13:22, 22 October '08

It’s where guitars turn deviant, performance artists swing from the rafters, and horses bolt from their stables… Be @ Proud is a kaleidoscopic assault on the senses, a regular one off every Saturday at the old horse hospital in Camden. This month Be hosts an eclectic mix of Gothic darkness in the form of S.C.U.M, brooding indie guitars from Lord Auch and the wonderfully uplifting madness of DJ collective of Sexbeat.

S.C.U.M comes in a shiny new black box, with a black ribbon and a black card which says ‘With Much Hate…S.C.U.M’. So now we have their attitude figured what about their music? Well its unsettling for those have a minor disposition but if you can get over that and like ethereal post punk and twisted electronica then this is the band for you! Led by their enigmatic front man Thomas Cohen, the band are certainly on the rise which their Radar feature in NME will testify. Go on we dare you!

London based three piece Lord Auch comprise of lead singer Simon McCabe and Danny Prescott (drums), both formerly of art rock legends Black Wire. Ex Courtney love guitarist Liam W completes the trio. Indie mavericks Young And Lost Club released the band’s debut single and featured them on their sold out UK club tour with Noah and the Whale. They are currently on tour with The Paddingtons having found time to support Dirty Pretty Things in between! With influences that range from George Bataille to Scott Walker to The Birthday Party, Lord Auch are sharp, exciting and compelling.

Brining their potent concoction of independent indie rock, the best vintage garage swagger and hormone infused pop to the grime riddled bars of inner London, Paul Lilley, Luke Jarvis, Liam Wade and Steve Dove aka Sexbeat have their fornicating fingers firmly on the records that tweak your hunger for youthful irreverence. This month the swaggering collective party animals show the Be revellers what they’re made of!

Late night DJ revelry comes from Be resident David H whilst VJ extraordinaire Hagpop Matossian adds a swirling dose of 3D eye candy behind the main stage. You have been warned!
