Asking as someone who has not a clue...

...how the music industry works, how much of a say would a band have on what gigs/venues they play, once they reach a certain level of commercial success? Just wondering because in the 'who are you voting for' ATP vs. Fans discussions there are artists who the general consensus has as being too expensive to get. Could a "big" band, Arcade Fire for an example off the top of my head, just say 'fuck it, we want to play there, we're not arsed about the money we get,' or are those decisions totally out of your hands? Not ATP-centric really, just a general question.
