Is it ever a good idea to have artwork/photography of a musician up in your house?

If so, I need examples where this has been a success

I'm toying with the idea of getting a couple of 'pieces' done, but not really too sure the best way to go about it. For years I've really, really liked these shots of Marvin Gaye, and I think they'd look pretty cool around the house

The second one probably more so. Good idea? Or will it inevitably look shite? I'm wary of coming across like some goon with a portrait of Tony Montana up on his wall. Any examples of similar stuff you've got that looks bitchin'?
