Right, so I've been thinking about the many local gigs I go to/play. There are a few things I try to abide to that I feel are just right, or 'sporting' if you will. For example, if someone I know comes to see me play, and I know they are in a band themselves, then I return the favor and go see them. And when playing a show, I makesure I stand and watch the other bands who are playing out of politeness more then anything. It annoys me when others don't also do the above!
