The worst heckle I have ever EVER heard (Low-centric)

nice_squirrel [Edit] [Delete] 23:47, 19 November '08

I've just seen Low's special Christmas show in London. It was wonderful, probably the second best time I've seen them (they're one of my favourite bands). There was a great atmosphere, they played a selection of normal songs then kicked in with their Christmas songs. After a few off the Christmas EP, they played both songs off their new Christmas single (of course).

The first one was a reggae carol. It was fun to see them do that. The second was a frankly terrifying song about Santa Claus, more typically 'Low'.

After the applause quietened down to a hushed silence common at Low gigs, a man shouted 'I've been coming to see Low for 11 years...' at which point I anticipated some sort of '...and I fucking love them!!!!' But no. This absolute penis concluded '...and this is NOT the Low I have come to love and expect.' People quiet rightly booed him down.

Fair enough, he didn't like the new kind of silly songs. But did he really not expect them to play their new Christmas single at a Christmas gig? Or was he referring to something else?! Either way, I don't know what could make someone into that kind of miffling indie fuck.

Vent your spleen on a message board the old fashioned way! If you want to get personal, send them a letter! But it's outrageous to abuse someone in the middle of a gig like that. I think. And, I don't know if it should matter, but it seems even worse to me that he was undermining a great gig by a man who has recently suffered such severe depression that he's just been able to start playing live again.

Mimi looked like she wanted to kick the heckler's face in.

And all this was BEFORE they'd played a cover of Merry Christmas (War is Over) :D

Anyway, post your stories of wonderful Low gigs or COMPLETE FUCKING SCHMINDIE FUCKNUTS.
