Why are bands (generally) less prolific nowadays?

greenfrog06 [Edit] [Delete] 18:01, 25 November '08

Not to sound like an old man or anything, but still. I was speaking about this to a mate, and I can't think of why their is so much more time between releases today. I mean, in the sixties bands were bringing out albums all the time: The Beatles with something like eleven in seven years, The Rolling Stones an album a year in the sixties, Bowie had about seven classic albums in the space of a decade in the seventies. Now when Los Campesinos! bring out two albums in a year it's astounding.

Thoughts?
