Anyone help with this problem?

When I'm scrolling through the menu it responds slowly, sometimes it even takes 3 or 4 button presses for the ipod to recognise it.

When I select a song and go to hit the "centre" button for it to play that is the worst for not responding and can take about 5 secs and various button presses.

Help please.
