At the risk of sounding like a codger, I think people get off quite lightly with what's in the top 40 nowadays. If you can cast your minds back to the charts of the mid-late 90s and remember quite how much Spackno was is the charts all the time.

Where now at least we get some lovely billion dollar R&B and Hip Hop along with some guitar musics (albeit a lot of it silly), you have to remember pre-strokes the proportion of the top 40 that was made up of balding continental 40-somethings in Oakleys and tight white t shirts flanked by miming porn stars producing some of the most vacuous grating nonsense known to man.
