im sure i have nothing to say that has'nt been said or thought...but still

why the fuck do decent publications persist with this numbered list bollocks at the end of every year.

it means nothing...it gets us poor fans into a tizz lamenting all the forgotten souls...it doesn't offer any new perspective or understanding...its just fucking journalistic shorthand bollocks...the quickest way to provoke opinions and get tongues wagging...but the discussions never get any further than....thats shit...this is better...etc etc..

in the future, can some level headed rag just let each/selected member/s of the writing staff choose their individual album of the year and give them a few paragraphs to discuss why, in their opinion, it deserves this accolade.

and not just a re-hash of their original review...a new assesment about how their thoughts of the album have changed over the months, and their opinion of the album in the context of a year of music.

otherwise its just something for 50 quid man to use as an xmas checklist....
