Press officers/ Pr people

Skadazzle [Edit] [Delete] 21:02, 13 December '08

Hello

I'd like your opinion on the above. Does anyone here us a press officer or pr person to help push their band/label/ promotions, etc and does have anyone have any pro's/con's or want to share their experiences please.

I run a gig night called Monkeysuit www.myspace.com/monkeysuitmusic and though locally at least, it appears we seem to have a lovely reputation. I'm frustrated in the fact that though I've dealt with agents. quite a bit this year. We tend to miss out on some fine bands because I feel anyway that the people with the power to choose, don't know who we were are, what we're about and tend to over look us sometimes.

I was thinking that if we could expand on our reputation (perhaps using a press officer/ pr person) then maybe I wouldn't end up banging my head against a wall, when I miss out on booking a band I really want to see!
Then ending up sometimes not always going to see them play in a similar sized venue somewhere else.

Any help/ advice would be appreciated, thanks.
