Here're some things I'm wondering: How long until a song becomes a "standard" and no money is paid artist? How is the money split between writer and band performing? Who pays into this fund (eg Do stadiums pay everytime they play Welcome to the Jungle, does Stereogum pay for their mini-radio while my friend's blog doesn't have to? etc) Does the money go to ASCAP who then distributes? What is typical record contract split between label and artist? Do American laws conflict with British laws? And basically whatever interesting thing you might have to say about the subject. Thanks.

(I've been away from you guys mostly cos my download speed has been unbearably poor...is it just me or have some others experienced this?)
