what's all that about eh?

i fancy a crack at making something. advice? any good kits to recommend? will i need much beyond a soldering iron? rewiring a plug/changing my guitar pick-ups is the only experience i have with electronicy things, i'm gonna fuck up right?

if any of you have recordings of stuff you've built that would be pretty cool.
