A dude called Dong cropped up recently on a Hyperdub 12" and I'd not heard of him before. LV & Quarta 330 remixed him, Quarta 330 is from Japan and involved in the 8-Bit scene but has a few releases out on Hyperdub already, they're the deeply bleepy numbers with fucked up wave forms and he prob pretty much made the dubstep scene and Hyperdub turn to the fucked up bleep-adelic side with his first release, but on the down-low... since he's kinda quite half the time. But anyway, LV & Quarta 330 twisted up a Dong track called 'Suzuran': http://boomkat.com/downloads/298753-lv-quarta-330-dong-hylo-suzuran and its pretty special, a freaky mix of blissfull bass weight, melodic 8-bit florashes and broken garage-esq beats. So I checked out Dong on the back of it and some tweets I couldn't understand from Quarta 330 on this website: http://www.16dimensional.com/wp/ and what I've heard is brilliant. I went for the link up top, where you can download 'Gone Square' by Dong. Track 09 is his version of 'Suzuran', maybe the orginal... who knows, its 8-bit so everything is a riddim and everyone has a version. The whole album is worth a listen but I can;t stop putting on 08 & 09 they're so good. He has a bleepy, vocoder, pop kind of sound, really melodic and super bassy. Its so catchy and kind of moving too. He's got loads of free download up on that site to check out, I'm gonna be digging deeper for sure.
