I'm sure most people think of him as a teenybopper but it's weird when you listen to his early stuff (Rock On, Stardust, Lamplight) and realise how odd and alien they must have sounded when compared to everything else in the charts at the time. He was well ahead of everyone, I reckon.

Plus, he's in Stardust (1974) which is, without a doubt, the greatest film about music ever made.
