Surprised but not overly that no one has commented on last weekends festivals. If everyone consumed as much Brains as me, the would be in an equally crumpled energy level. Anyway, what did people think of it? I only went as the happy result of winning a ticket on the radio and probably wouldnt have gone otherwise.
However, despite my reservations about the lineup, i was blown away by several bands and didn't really see anyone bad all weekend which for a festivals constructed almost wholly from music just wailing its way into life is impressive.
Props to the organisers for their excellent taste.
Anyway, i wanted to big up Among Brtohers who were excellent, very alluring and energising Efterklang style rock, as well as Islet who were stunning. The floor throbbed with enthusiasm. Right Hand Left Hand looked like a band who'd be together and honed their music a while which was technically pleasing but i also got into their math-rock more than expected. I cant remember much else, munch munch were good as were OK.
Just wanted to express my love for the weekend. Dot to Dot (in bristol at least) seems to dilute the joy of overconsumption of live music by spreading the venues out (as well as Bristol crowds being generally less jovial than Cardiffians) but having most venues in one lane really has something to it, my heart leapt a little when i walked down Womanby st to see the Swn logo graffitied everywhere.
