Shall we talk about KaitO for a bit?
Good.
They were great weren't they? If they'd have been from the States or only had one decent song like No Age I'm sure we would have ALL heard of them, but they seemed to come out at a time when noisy British bands were frowned upon.
Their lyrics were unintelligible, their lead guitarist Dave made these mental noises by rubbing a distortion box up and down his guitar neck, Angus from Liars & Bloc Party gave them some love and they generally ruled my world.
I saw their last ever gig I believe. It wasn't supposed to be. They played at the Royal Hotel in Southend and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Hardly anyone there, yet they played like their lives depended on it. The material was heavily taken from a third unreleased record which a band member told me they were having trouble getting released. Due to Franz & BP getting big, the label were pushing for it to be 'mainstreamed' and be less 'angular', whatever that term meant anyway...
They were trying to resolve those issues but I guess never did. The odd song did appear on Myspace and all were proper good:

Did anyone ever get a mastered demo of it? I'd KILL to hear it.
Anyhow 'Band red' - still awesome today. Well worth a visit if you like your music frenetic and catchy, yet original.
I liked KaitO a lot. Did you?
(Nikki is in Factory Floor now. They're pretty great as well.)
