Record Store Day
Most of these Record Store Day releases are entirely pointless.
'A 10" vinyl reissue of The Smiths classic Queen is Dead'- why?
'A special collectors' doublepack of 78s of The Beach Boys's Good Vibrations/Heroes & Villains'- why?
'Kate Bush- Hounds of Love on 10" pink vinyl'- why?
RSD shouldn't be about all these faux-collectors releases, it should be about bands releasing new or unreleased music, or on previously unavailable formats (the vinyl release of Gorillaz 'The Fall' is a great idea), 12" remixes, split 7"s with bands covering each others songs etc etc, something creative, interesting, exciting. But no, it's all just labels releasing any old crap for the sake of it, so there are far too many releases and it's impossible to actually get hold of anything you want, or anything that's actually any good.
Though at least Sub Pop don't seem to be putting out loads of pointless 7" rereleases this year.
Oh I dunno, I guess loads of people love this crap, don't they? I don't want to ruin their fun. Actually, I do. Fuck 'em.
