A Hot Chip boxed-set / retrospective would be about the best thing ever wouldn't it?
I think Hot Chip manage to be both ubiquitous and outrageously underrated. Even though they're featured everywhere from P4K through to the back pages of Grazia they're still sidelined as a semi-novelty singles act by a large proportion of publications - their name seems to be prefixed with 'geek-poppers' or 'quirky-electro oddballs' half the time they're mentioned.
But taken as a whole their body of work is almost unparalleled in modern British music. Five acclaimed albums over eight years, a string of near-perfect singles, consistently innovative live performances, B-sides and rarities worth digging around for, fantastic imagery / artwork / visuals
I reckon when they stop making albums they'll become more revered. Trying to imagine what it might be like to 'discover' them in 20 years - anyone whose into smart, electronic pop music would pretty much lose their shit
Anyway - if you had to make say a 12 song retrospective - what would you put on there? Doesn't have to necessarily be singles, just your favourites / ones that you feel reflect the quality of the band
