Warp's Artificial Intelligence series is 20 today*
Polygon Window - Surfing On Sine Waves was released on 11th January 1993, the first of 6 albums that launched a few careers and kick-started a new genre of electronic music.
(I'm still struggling with the term IDM but it seems to have stuck...)
So, what do these albums still mean to you?
They changed my listening habits for good and I still go back to most of them each year. There's a classic or two in there.
We might as well do this, too:
Bytes > Ginger > Incunabula = Surfing On Sine Waves > Dimension Intrusion > Electro-Soma
I've said this in another thread already, but I'd love DiS to run an article on the series, Warp or any of the artists who contributed.
* Yeah, I'm conveniently ignoring the fact that the Artificial Intelligence compilation came out in July 1992.
