Did anyone sign up for this in the late nineties, back when people thought there was money that could be made from music online?

They gave anyone and everyone a £100 advance on any release they wanted to put out through the website. Seems hard to believe looking back now.

Being in school at the time, this was more money than I could comprehend.

16 year old me recorded some songs on my home PC, uploaded them and boom, got £100 for my troubles. They were supposedly quality vetted but to give an example of the low quality they deemed acceptable, this was the lead track from my EP:
