Zorn
His doing a date at The Barbican in July, tickets on sale now.
The maverick force of nature that is American radical composer and saxophonist John Zorn is turning 60 this year. A true independent spirit and a pioneer in combining jazz, rock, experimental, folk, and classical traditions, Zorn has decided to hold no ordinary birthday party either.
Bringing together an all-star ensemble of long time associates and friends including vocalists Mike Patton, Jesse Harris and Sofia Rei, guitarist Marc Ribot, Trevor Dunn on bass and more, the programme will feature some of his most lyrical and enduring compositions of the past 30 years, composed for films and for some of his most popular bands – from Naked City, Masada and The Dreamers to Moonchild, Nova Express and more – alongside other visionary projects like his modern strings masterpiece, The Alchemist.
