1. Been investigating his back catalogue a bit more. Domesticated Dog is my new favourite Mount Eerie song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN5MBBxlBZ0
5. Brilliantly insane electronic music built on a copy of Music for the PS2. Filled with weird vocal samples. The guy's built a whole mythology around this fictional village. Very British - similar to hauntological stuff off Ghost Box but heavier on beats. Good introduction would be his FACT mixes from a while back.

6. Solo record from one half of The Books from last year (I think). 'Math-pop' I guess. If you like The Books you'll like this.
7. Nearly put Dan Deacon's Wish Book Vol. 1 as my album of the year but didn't 'cause it wasn't properly released etc. It's built out of shitloads of samples, layered like crazy, and is basically 37 minutes of stupid euphoria. A bit like being inside an adult swim cartoon.

Other non-chart stuff:
Been listening to a bunch of old blues and gospel and stuff, partly because I'm making mixtapes for people for Christmas, and partly 'cause there was a documentary - 'Blues America' - on about it the other day. Here are a couple of highlights from my investigations.
Hoot Your Belly Give Your Backbone Ease - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUbNyBJh9sw
Ernest Martin (bluegrass gospel stuff) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXNndXhhVLk - this song's nowhere near as good as any off of The Last Inauguration but is still a belter.
Been listening to quite a lot of Burial lately 'cause it gets dark and grim so early.
